Ah, OK. 15 min on, 45 min off..just like a normal school day. Love that we can't see the teacher's face now b/c kids in class mean everyone needs masks. Morning announcements over a garbled classroom loudspeaker but filtered through internet audio, was a treat. Going great.
It's so hard for any of these kids at home to get their Qs answered or have any real time interaction with their teacher or classmates.
I hope this gets better. I'm not hopeful. I'm not going to make it through the year if this is how it will go.
Maybe maybe maybe this gets better enough that I don't have to sit next to my kid through the entire lesson to help out, but it's not looking good so far.
Reconsidering the idea that I might be able to get any kind of errand or household chore done while the kiddo is "in" school.
So we're going to give in class kids two cracks at the same question while my patiently holding his hand up kid gets nothing huh? Alright.
Holding up a whiteboard that says "We can't hear you! Unmute!" for 5 minutes while the teacher ignores us is fun.
I've been either within earshot or right next to my kid for the entire school day today. They havn't been engaged by their teacher a single time so far. Not once. I think 2 online kids have been called on.
I'm trying not to blame the teacher. She's working hard. I see it. Also though, in-class kids are getting in-class only time with a teacher and an assistant. The LEAST you can be doing is calling on and engaging the online students when you have them. My kid is SO BORED!
Kid wasn't engaged a single time by the teacher yesterday. Fingers crossed for today.
Not so far.

But hey, the 5 minutes we spend trying to tell the teacher she's muted was really educational.
Apparently, the tech at school simply is not working today so we won't be in school. Everything about this is super.
I think he's been asked to answer a question by the teacher 2 times in the 1st FIVE WEEKS of class. I wrote a fairly harsh letter the other day about it. Literally doesn't seem like they can even see the distance learning kids.
It took him all of 3 or 4 days to stop raising his hand b/c he could see that it was pointless and that he wasn't going to be called on. That shit is dispiriting to watch.

I despise the Republican party b/c they are 99.8% responsible for our country's shit response to COVID19.
Another day with zero engagement with my kid by the teacher. I don't really want to have the same conversation each week with this teacher.
I don't know..maybe put a list of kids on your desk and each time you ask them to answer a question, make a mark.
First 6 minutes of the post-lunch zoom were on mute from her end and b/c I don't think she can see any of us at home, she didn't notice the multiple signs telling her we couldn't hear.
Spent several minutes screaming some form of F*CK into the ether.
Sorry neighbors.
Convo at the end of last week was about 2 things. Calling on online only kids early and often so they know you're seeing them, and CAMERA ON/MUTE OFF!!!
Oh for Two.
Someone in my kid's class is positive for COVID and I'm glad we still haven't sent him in.
