#BacktheBlue What is the REAL ANSWER? It is 2 Fold. It starts with FUNDING & TRAINING. Our Police Departments need 2 B funded 120%+. After watching many seals & other special forces PPL, it's clear that every wk. of duty should include 20% of time dedicated 2 training. Training
2 De-Escalate w/conversation, 2 Have 1 Officer 2 step Back & Another 2 Step in & lower tensions. In event of Resistance &/or VIOLENCE, training is required on-going so that Tactics Bcome Normalized & Automatically done correctly because they R practiced 1 day per wk. In Extremely
Volatile Situations where someone is going 4 an officer's gun or overwhelms the officer in SZ/WEIGHT, an OFFICER needs to be highly trained 2 execute ACTIONs 2 subdue PPL. Without CONSTANT ONGOING Training, An Officer's Stress Level, Adrenaline & Training
Will not be Managed Properly. If u think about this u can C that it is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to execute tactical & psychological training when u r only offered this training at the Police Academy or in UR Police Force 1 or 2 times a yr. if at ALL. WHEN All situations r acted out on a
regular TRAINING Regimen of 1 day p/wk., de-escalation of upset or agitated PPL, Arresting protocols 4 difficulties encountered w/resisting PPL, Tactical Actions 4 use when arrestees/criminals r resisting/attacking, actions needed 2 subdue some1 who's fleeing the scene, & finally
Handling a person that is attacking an officer or group is attacking 1 or more officers. When all of these scenarios have been continually acted out in realistic TRAINING & Consistent Training, these responses become automatic over time. Training is ALSO a good place 2
identify potential problems with New Officers as well as Officers that may be experiencing burn-out or psychological problems related 2 the job or some off job situations n their personal lives. Excessive force can mostly B weeded out w/training. Indications that an officer
has ANY tendencies 2 use excessive force or 2 use position as a dictatorial tyrant. This should NOT be TOLERATED & until problem is rectified officer can not b on duty. If not rectified n a few wks of training, the officer should be let go of duties & fired. Imagine having some
one reaching 4 a gun & u r afraid they r going 2 shoot u.
In your last training course u had mock training which was 5 yrs. ago in a gym. How confident would u b n handling that situation given the fact that u have a portion of a second 2 make right decision. So as citizens we
need 2 recognize that Police Officers must 1st b VETTED & SCRUTINIZED prior 2 being hired and/or being accepted in2 a Police Academy. Then they should b paid well & respected. MOST IMPORTANTLY 20% of ea. week should b spent n ongoing training so responses & actions r automatic.
