The thing is when speaking out on human trafficking the conversation become selective and people blame other Africans for our problem. Specifically Nigerians. Forgetting that for human trafficking to succeed you need a network of people from different places https://twitter.com/lungah__/status/1305403543491432450
Police
Detectives
Government officials
Judges
Airport staff
Boarder gate officials
Home affairs

These are all people whom 99% of them must be Nationals. So now to solely blame other Africans for this problem is ridiculous.
I haven’t even gotten to the fact we haven’t even looked at where these people are being trafficked to and for. My uneducated guess would be Europe/Asia. Not so much the rest of Africa. why? Because there must be a need for stolen humans.
Hard truth but I highly doubt that Nigerian people would want human trafficked South Africans in their country doing sex work etc when they could just exploit their own since most African countries are weak in terms of economic freedom
My guess would be that Europeans and Asians are living soft lives and want to exploit people that are in need and don’t care about. Do y’all know how Eastern Europeans OWN Durban drug rings? But y’all don’t talk about that huh?
I remember an article about Chinese men running a brothel and crack house in the middle of Durban north. Also read of Serbians (I think) being busted in Kloof and the entire mansion was filled with illegal guns and drugs.
Enclosing, I say we must be aware of how we talk about the shit that happens in our country and who is responsible. Also understand that we have the 4th largest harbor and the biggest container terminal in Africa. Human traffickers playground.
A few articles I’ve read since making this thread.
