okay but can we stop saying gon is “psycho” or “unhinged”. i’ve been thinking about it and tbh he’s normal??

~ a thread on my thoughts ~
so when people analyze gon they usually say he’s unhinged and that his sense of morality is extremly warped. that may be true to some degree but tbh you’re overthinking it
gon is literally just human. he’s not deku or naruto. he doesn’t want to be the best. he doesn’t want to be a hero. he’s literally just a boy with daddy issues who’s trying to seek approval from the man who abandoned him.
his entire motivation throughout the series was that he wanted to be a hunter like his dad so he could eventually find his dad and his dad would be proud of him. he doesn’t even give a shit about his mom bc he was raised by his aunt. he doesn’t lack a mother figure
i’m not gonna go into depth on the psychological effects of growing up without a father but you can just see. i think number 1 is most important bc he does have anger issues lol we been knew.
but anyways back to gon being normal and not the psycho y’all think he is. his motive was never to be a hero. hxh is not about heroes. hunters aren’t inherently good. hisoka is a hunter so that just proves it.
gon is just a normal boy with a goal and desire to be validated by his absent father. if anything gets in the way of that he’s obviously gonna be pissed. he gets mad when the people he cares about die. that’s a normal reaction. and when you compare it to the hxh power scale-
-or whatever the fuck it’s called you realize that for gon to react that way after gon died is a normal reaction in the hxh universe. they are extreme. all their emotions are extreme. murder is normalized there. so obviously gon is gonna explode bc that’s just how his world is
~ end of thread ~

[ sorry for any typos ]
after kite dies* omg i didn’t mean to type gon lmao gon doesn’t die
disclaimer: i’m not saying that any of this is right. it’s all just my interpretation of his character. i also agree with a lot of other opinions about it
