(3/7) Alcohol harms your health - more than 10 million people in the UK currently drink at levels which increase their risk of health harm. Alcohol is the leading risk-factor for ill health, death and disability among those aged 15 to 49 in England. #ItsEverywhere
(4/7) Alcohol harms society – in England, hospital admissions related to alcohol reached a record level of 1.26 million in 2018/19. Alcohol-related crime in England and Wales is estimated to cost society around £11.4 bn per year. #ItsEverywhere
(5/7) Report recommendations:
• Introduce a UK Government alcohol strategy
• Measures to support families and protect children from harm
• A science-led strategy which adopts @WHO’s recommendations for reducing alcohol harm
• Addressing the stigma around alcohol use disorders
