a thread about the closeting of artists and why L*rry might have been closeted, why they signed contracts and why they didn’t leave Modest sooner.
Closeting
under national laws in the U.K. no company has the right to discriminate against employees based on gender, race, ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientation, ect.
if a company where to do this and it came out they did this it would cause a lot of backlash and loss of
profit. they would probably go into a legal battle nonetheless. with this being said the entertainment industry is special. media companies (media companies are companies that own many individual companies that are involved in mass media enterprises, radio, tabloids, television
ect. this is where we would’ve gotten majority of the dating rumors with H*rry. him and T*ylor, him and K*ndall, him and C*roline.) are businesses. they have the same laws as anyone else BUT their entire profit margin is based on their ability to sell a certain image that
portrays their clients in a specific light. with this all said forcing them to stay in the closet does NOT violate their human rights, especially if they signed a specific contract that states they weren’t allowed to come out during a selected time frame. numerous men have been
closeted under S*ny owned record labels (C*lumbia, Syc*, ect.) and S*ny itself. M*dest! Management also has been known to give gay artists girlfriends and contracts (see Mark Feehily from Westl!fe who signed a contract with Modest! that allowed him to be closeted. he was given a
women named Laura Hinton as a beard. after his contract ended he revealed that he was dating a man since 2005. Westl!fe was also under Syc* and S*ny throughout their career) i personally find it very likely that L*rry had something similar done to them.
Why would they sign the contracts then?
they probably didn’t know that the entertainment industry worked like this. if they did know how grungey the entertainment industry is then they probably trusted S!mon. they might have thought that if S!mon chose M*dest! for all of The X
F*ctors talents then it must be a good and trustable. M*dest! would be the company that would give out the contracts because they are the management. if they didn’t trust S!mon right from the beginning then they might not have read through the contract throughly enough. they
where just kids desperate to make it in the music world. so many artists have said that you need to read your contracts thoroughly because if you don’t then things can go wrong very quickly.
Why didn’t they leave M*dest! sooner?
management teams often give their clients time frames and make promises that tend to break. this could mean they got promised something and they where waiting for it to happen.
contracts are also EXTREMELY difficult to break. R*becca Ferguson
broke her contract and was sued by M*dest! because she broke it. they might have been afraid to break the contract.

in conclusion there is probably so much we don’t know about and might not ever know about.
