Look, I thought I was well equipped. I packed a couple of decent guns, it was supposedly difficult but I had confidence.
If it was direct confrontation, they would've wrecked me and if it was the other way around they would've called for reinforcements. I lose either way.
It was definitely too soon. I mean I did it, and it was not cowardice, it was strategy.
What I did was, on one of the rooftops after entering from a cliff above the fortress, I marked everyone before wreaking havoc.
I mean I say wreaking havoc but all I did was hide and take them out one by one with the bow. It was beautiful.
Look, I only have one weakness when it comes to games, and that is stealth. I fucking love stealth. I will scout for 20 minutes and enjoy it as much as when I shoot an arrow through their skulls. I love it.
I am a very impatient person. I hate waiting, and I hate when people make me wait, but scouting an enemy camp until I mark every last one of them? Oh we gon' be here for hours, baby.
My favorite weapon is bow and arrow, because it's so fucking cool. When a game has a good bow, useful, and great stealth mechanics, oh boy do I have fun playing it.
Granted Far Cry 4 doesn't have the best bow mechanics in gaming history but-
do you have any idea how many bad guys have gone away from their camps, led by the sound of the rock I threw, only to meet their demise to my almighty bow skills? WELL HOW COULD YOU NONE OF THEM LIVED TO TELL THE TALE
Anyway, I digress.
So my strategy was to find a spot where I could take them out one by one with the bow, and hopefully not getting found. That would've triggered the alarms, which were very cleverly placed, I only had an angle to disable two of the three I saw.
Well, at the end I just ignored the alarms and took them one by one with the bow, like the grim reaper that I am with the bow. Because you can kill wih the bow and you make no sound and it's pretty fucking cool.
And the AI wasn't made by Asimov, that might've helped a bit.
I can choose to have attachments for precision and range for my bow, I had precision, but I could've used more range.
And I haven't progressed far enough into the story (so far my playtime is most likely 80 side missions 20 story) so I do not have silencers yet.
Yes, silencers. I also very much love silencers. Because stealth. Silencers make your guns very quiet. I like quiet. I can shoot my gun, make no sound, stealth possible. Me like silencers.
I don't know when, but I definitely am getting a sniper rifle with a silencer. That is a hot sentence, 'A sniper rifle with a silencer'.
I did not have it yet for this one, because I think I rushed too soon.
I definitely could've used it.
In the end I managed to conquer the fortress, but the subsequent ones are definitely getting gradually more difficult. Hopefully by then I have silencers.
The only reason I wrote this thread was to say taking out enemy camps in Far Cry games must be what cocaine feels like.
Also I don't have any audiovisual evidence, but when I was exploring, I caught with my camera the exact moment an eagle picked up a pig and flew away.
Yes, the eagle picked the pig up and just, flew. I saw the eagle flying and the pig just lying down. Completely dead.
