It can lead to rumination, panic, worry and overthinking. You start to create scenarios in your head that are not likely at this given moment, and you underestimate your ability to cope.
Given the increase in numbers (morbidity & mortality) this shift in communication, as well as a focus towards mental health, makes complete sense.
Coping sometimes means parsing the info you need, assess your own preparedness, and change your behaviour accordingly.

Information overload, given how the virus is right now in Jamaica, isn’t useful at all. And no, I’m not advocating for the hiding of information. MOHW should provide it all, but in a central place for people to take what they need to inform their behaviour.
