Many people don't know their representatives/leaders at the local govt level (and I don't blame them).

They resort to calling out/insulting the governor because that's who they know.

There are many tasks that your LGA chairman is responsible for (which they don't do)
A gov is at the helm of affairs; he can't do everything; that's why those chairmen exist.

It's also essential to be a part of/know what the Community Devt Charter(CDC) is. It exists mainly to interface with said chairpersons to highlight focal points of devt in your communities
They, in turn, present it at the state level, so monies are budgeted and allocated for important projects.

Our ignorance makes them thrive in corrupt practices because rather than spending budgeted/allocated money on the projects, they pocket most of it and share the rest
Or said projects are done shabbily so that they'd have leftover money to steal
(and share some, so it looks like they care about the people)
Until recently (in Kaduna), they weren't obliged to give an account of these monies.
Still, we cannot efficiently do this demanding accountability thing if we're pointing fingers at the wrong people or if we don't even know the approved projects and monies budgeted for said projects in the communities where we live.
We need a registry of sorts that will be available ONLINE to contain the names, contacts AND responsibilities of all LGA reps so that the interested people can find this information and hold these people accountable.
Do you know the LGA representative for the area your house is located? Do you know what is contained in the budget?
Retweet/reply to this if you would be willing to help us curate a database of our lawmakers and representatives. This information will help promote the act of accountability and improve citizen participation in governance"
