Adventures in selling things on Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace.

Part 1.

A thread.
Item in question: 10 year old Sony surround system that I bought when I lived in an apartment in NYC.

Price new: $200
Selling for: $20
Reason: had no idea what it was worth and wanted someone to pick it up and take it away.
Selling on: FB marketplace
Interested buyer: (in Spanish) is the sound system still available?

Mind you, I speak some Spanish but nothing in my profile indicates this so already an auspicious beginning.

Me: Si

Buyer: (again in Spanish) where are you? (Even though post clearly states it)
Me: (tell him where it is)

Buyer: O.M.G.

Me: ?

Buyer: I’m in (place 20 miles away)

Me: ??

Buyer: I don’t have a car.

So at this point I’m thinking:
- this is not how I thought this would go

- I’m fascinated but the Venn diagram intersection of:
A. Don’t have a car

B. Inquire about posts that are CLEARLY not within walking distance

C. Make those inquiries in a language not indicated on the post.
