#SumnerGradeFire Update

Making progress! Today’s cooler air and humidity paired with the crews continued hard work has resulted in 65% fire containment. Actual acres burned has been corrected to 494 acres due to the ability to walk the fire perimeter to confirm accuracy.
An updated phased re-entry evacuation plan goes into effect at 6 p.m. this evening. All areas have been downgraded to Level 1. Visit http://cobl.us/summergradefire  for details.
Myers Road will remain closed to local access only. “Local Access” means if you live in this area you may drive into the area to and from your home. Please be mindful fire depart vehicles and hoses still present to handle fire-related issues. DO NOT drive over fire hoses!
Crews are still working on State Route 410 and it will reopen as soon as possible. Before the highway can re-open, Washington State Department of Transportation crews need to replace long sections of scorched guardrail.
In addition, they are inspecting the hillside for large rocks or other debris that could fall on to the highway. SR 410 is being evaluated constantly and we are working hard to get it open for normal use.
Donations should be sent to the Red Cross in order to assist evacuees. Please go to https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.html/ and use the drop down menu to select “Your Local Red Cross”.
Neither the Red Cross or fire fighters are accepting clothing, bedding, food or other physical items due to limited resources to manage them and COVID-19 protocols. We appreciate the generous outpouring of support for the evacuees.
