Recently, we've heard from UM Housing that the reason our demands aren't being addressed is that they're 'too scattered'. This morning at 8am we sent out our full list of demands, standardized across dorms, to help them along: A THREAD! (1/14).
These are our demands in their entirety. To read the email we sent directly to housing, refer to the bottom of this thread, or our linktree, where it'll be posted! (2/14)
A: Regular access to testing for all ResStaff, including asymptomatic individuals. (3/14)
B: Providing sufficient, effective personal protective equipment (PPE) to ResStaff and Students. This includes replacing inefficient and ineffective PPE. (4/14)
C: Enforcement of social distancing and face coverings inside and outside of residence halls and dining halls. (5/14)
D: Enforcement of currently unenforceable guest policy by non-student employees. Additionally, failing to adhere to social distancing and face covering practices should result in real consequences. (6/14)
E: Hiring and staffing to normal capacity for all facilities and housing teams. (7/14)
F: More specific public and ResStaff communication and transparency. This includes resumed ResStaff daily updates, Maize and Blueprint statistics updated daily and disaggregated by building, updates from EHS within 24 hours of a case (8/14)
with immediate ResStaff notification of a COVID case on their floor. Additionally, ResStaff should not be asked to interact with residents who have knowingly been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19. (9/14)
G: Hazard pay for ResStaff. (10/14)
H: A formal statement of no retaliation from Housing Administration or University Administration should a ResStaff union be formed. (11/14)
I: A formal statement of no retaliation from Housing Administration or University Administration against any ResStaff member who went on strike, is currently on strike, or is supporting the strike. (12/14)
