yes we should use Latine because it is more accessible to screenreaders, and but there are some terms like womxn and folx that arent just "people being super woke", they have a history with certain communities
**womxn was stolen by T*RFs so many are uncomfortable with it now tho https://twitter.com/lesbian_ocean/status/1304873974736785408

yes, we should stop using ALL these terms because they are inaccessible to screen readers, but not because things like "latinx was made up by americans!" (it wasnt) or "folx was made up by people on the internet to be cool!" (it wasnt)
terms like "womxn" and "folx" have often been used by communities of color, even if they aren't used now because of how T*RFs have stolen them, changing attitudes about them, etc. please keep this in mind
i see people lumping in whenever people use an x for any stupid reason with certain terms that have certain meanings and histories and im like yes we should move away from these terms but lets be clear
there are a couple explanations out there why SOME communities have chosen folx over folks for example (its not just about how folks is already gender neutral....its more than that actually) https://yespleasemore.net/the-origin-of-folx-and-why-we-should-all-use-it/
as many people have explained folx is not the "gender neutral" form of folks (fucking word is already gender neutral) it is "a form of textual dialect" https://www.quora.com/Why-is-the-term-folx-used-as-a-gender-neutral-term-for-folks-Isnt-folks-a-gender-neutral-term
here is also a great thread on Latinx https://twitter.com/aliciasanchez/status/1295520278039207937?s=20
there are also WILDLY different opinions on terms from sourceland vs diaspora on things like Latinx vs Filipinx so its important to realize that language is? fluid and terms mean different things for different people. here is an example thread https://twitter.com/juangelosilva/status/1302435298903719937?s=20
anyway im big tired of the Latinx debate and now i see it about like every other term and im like ok lets just...be cognizant of accessibility when putting things in writing/naming things and realize not all x terms are the same PLEASE
