As a performer i dont know how to explain to yall how a dance captain could really make or break a group. Everytime Joon said if hoseok is the second leader/even the leader if it's not him, I absolutely understand what he meant by that and how its not just a passing statement https://twitter.com/jhopestudio/status/1305185193234444289
Every dance captain basically have the hardest work out of all. They have to work double because they're basically the performance director every other time outside of the choreographer's time. If the choreographer taught the dance in 1 hour, the dance captain has to clean it up
for the next 4 hours or more until its perfect, not only in rehearsal room but also backstage, during run-throughs etc. Usually, in professional Broadway setting, Dance Captains have extra fees than the regular cast member for the extra hours and energy theyre putting in.
And its not only abt their dance skills, but also their communication skills. They have to have a certain way to teach things that everyone can understand quickly and clearly, a balance between being strict without being the enemy of the group for raising the general tension
I've been in so many productions where the rehearsals became so frustrating and unbearable because of incompetent dance captains. None of our formation works and all of us were in a bitchy mood towards that person, not ideal at all. The fact that Hoseok is so loves by all of them
and even Joon equates being with him is like being in calm waters really proves what a perfect and one of a kind Dance Captain Hoseok is.
Also if you've seen ILand at all, you know how important having a competent dance captain to a group is lol. (The image of Sungdeuk screaming at Taki in Fake Love team still fresh in my mind)
