When I tell people I& #39;m burnt out from storyboarding, I& #39;m often given advice to fix my burn out: "Make time outside of work" "Prioritize doing your own art" "Schedule breaks" "Draw looser" "Take time off"
Rarely does the conversation point towards or try to fix the problems in the production schedule and how ridiculous its demands are.
At a certain point, you can& #39;t "draw looser." You can& #39;t make your brain think faster through a 17 page script in 2 weeks or rough and clean a 22 min episode in 8 weeks. Let alone do that 3 times in a row with no down time in between. Your mind + body can& #39;t keep that up or recover.
I don& #39;t usually rant until I& #39;m at the end of myself. Tv productions (at least in canada) are not created with humans in mind.
Production schedules are the problem- not the burnt out board artist. I& #39;m finally realizing this.

There& #39;s a reason the average life expectancy of a board artist in this industry is 5 years
