Anti-trafficking ngo's have poured millions of dollars into ad space creating paranoid white supremacist fantasies that Black and Brown men were coming into communities to kidnap white children. How many posters like this have you seen
The majority of those orgs refuse to even so much as acknowledge or work with trans youth. Half of the websites for "safe houses" list they only provide services for "biological females". It should be no surprise the majority do not support LGBTQ+ youth either.
A number are themselves horrific scams. I think of one that "rescues" trafficked youth and "teaches" them to sew. The org receives donations of used bridal gowns which the youth fix, and then the dresses are sold under the premise of "saving children."
The youth, most of whom are minors, are NOT paid. They do not even receive services outside of learning "sewing skills". They have 3 boutiques in PDX alone.
I'm not saying all anti-trafficking ngos are bad, there are a number that are SWer led and directed and some of the most inspiring projects ever. Like New Day in pdx or the Young Women's Empowerment Program from chicago.
However, the majority are fucked. They have poured millions into serious disinfo campaigns. They have worked with police, DHS, ICE, judges, and politicians to create policies which have led to widespread violence against people trading sex.
Qanon responded to and built off of what has already been a foundational part of anti-trafficking narrative in our culture. And it is frustrating to see those people getting a pass when they have absolutely worked to create this.
