I've been read by a lot of gatekeepers over the years who've told me "I'm almost ready."

Then George Floyd was murdered and a Twitter hashtag allowed me to skip the gatekeepers and get read by decision makers. The decision makers told me "I've been ready for years."

Funny that.
I'm not done with my Twitter hiatus yet, but I just had to get that off my chest.

My life is in a very different place than when I left Twitter, and it's due to a hashtag resulting from the murder of a Black man allowing me to skip the gatekeepers that filter out "other" voices.
This industry has a pipeline problem that shouldn't take murder to solve.

Still to this day I can't help but wonder, would this industry have allowed Ryan Coogler to have a career if Oscar Grant were still alive?

Or would he have just been asked, "Who's the audience?"
