I have Thoughts about this.

First off: yes, hating MAPs doesn't make you a fanpol, and pro-shippers are not obligated to be pro-MAP or engage with MAP discourse in any way https://twitter.com/jackaltox/status/1305032769404370946
However, if pro-shippers are going to say things like 'being a pro-shipper means being against harassment,' then they are obligated to denounce any and all harassment coming from within their community, including that against MAPs
Again, this is not because I expect them to necessarily be pro-MAP, but because I expect them to be anti-harassment.

Because that is what they've told me they are over and over again. If they can't stick to that, then they should admit it was a lie.
Right now, there are deep biases in the community that are stopping that from happening, and there needs to be a discussion about that. Anyone trying to dodge that discussion by saying pro-shippers don't need to be pro-MAP is missing the point.
I'll also add: the pro-shippers who say they don't engage in MAP discourse need to actually not engage in MAP discourse.

If MAPs make you uncomfortable and you halfheartedly make comments about them, that *will* manifest as an bias against MAPs, whether you intend it to or not.
And if you really *must* say something about MAPs, then you should be extra careful to make sure what you're saying is actually true, and listen if people tell you that you're wrong.
Right now, many pro-shippers do the opposite. They make horribly misinformed comments about MAPs and dodge criticism by saying that they don't want to engage in MAP discourse.
When you do that, it makes me think the thing you're uncomfortable with here isn't really MAPs: it's being told you're wrong.
