Today I reminded @BoDPres of the heroic work of those, including my grandfather, who saved refugee lives in the Kindertransport. We are standing idly by and giving the Home Secretary a platform when the Hostile Environment leaves migrants in poverty, destitute or worse.

The response was that, while our history may be proud, we can throw that under the bus with deference to the role because "the @BoardofDeputies is not political".

This ignores the hard work by the "not political" BoD to push these manifesto commitments, which the Home Secretary has systematically undermined and dismantled. We need to #ChangeTheStory when it comes to refugees and make it count when we say #RefugeesWelcome
