Greece 🇬🇷 reports 207 new cases in the last 24 hours.

A decrease from yesterday, where 302 cases were reported.

Let’s hope this keeps up to mitigate UK 🇬🇧 quarantine measures.

Latest stats on the islands too!

My thread 👇
We now know that the UK government 🇬🇧 is taking a regional approach to quarantine measures for some nations.

In Monday’s announcement in parliament, Shapps announced the following islands were to be added to England’s quarantine list, effective from 4:00am last Wednesday 👇

Following today’s cases, Greece’s 🇬🇷 7-day cumulative case rate per 100,000 people is 16.3.

This is up from yesterday, where this figure was 15.6.

Again, no immediate concerns, but would be ideal to see cases level-off next week.

We don’t know too much about how the UK government 🇬🇧 determines which islands should be subject to quarantine measures.

But one thing we do know is the 7-day case rate per 100,000 people is not the only factor considered.

/7
I continue to suspect that the UK government 🇬🇧 (and devolved governments) are concerned about “party islands”… and Brits returning to the UK 🇬🇧 and testing positive for COVID-19 e.g. Crete/Zante stories a few weeks back.

12,890 tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Down from yesterday due to a reduced capacity available on weekends, but up from last Sunday by 336.

No concerns regarding testing capacity.

Week-day capacity will return by Tuesday.

From tomorrow until Thursday, we ideally want to see no more than 270 new cases per day in Greece 🇬🇷.

That way, the 7-day case rate per 100,000 people will be no higher than 17.6.

/11
This is high, but below the UK government’s 🇬🇧 “threshold” of 20.

There’s also some leeway here too.

We could see slightly more cases, and Greece’s 🇬🇷 7-day case rate per 100,000 people would still be below 20.

/12
The ideal scenario however, as for all countries, is for cases to level-off.

That way, we mitigate further UK 🇬🇧 quarantine measures as much as possible.

/13
Regarding rising UK 🇬🇧 cases, I wouldn’t be concerned yet about Greece 🇬🇷 imposing measures on British travellers.

My next tweet contains the list of countries subject to showing a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before arriving in Greece 🇬🇷.

/14
Countries where a negative COVID-19 PCR test result is required upon entry to Greece 🇬🇷

🇧🇬 Bulgaria
🇷🇴 Romania
🇦🇪 U.A.E
🇲🇹 Malta
🇸🇪 Sweden
🇧🇪 Belgium
🇪🇸 Spain
🇦🇱 Albania
🇲🇰 North Macedonia

The Netherlands 🇳🇱 was removed from this list last Monday.

/15
France 🇫🇷 is still not on the list, and is seeing far higher cases than the UK 🇬🇧.

So the UK 🇬🇧 is fine for now!

/16
As usual, more tweets to come as the situation develops!

Thanks! 🇬🇷🇬🇧
