i wish dmcb had shown these parts, this is likely very traumatic for him and so it would explain why he acts the way he does. even akira himself said that ryo had changed while they were apart, so ryo was always the apathetic monster dmcb showed us

i just realized that devilman was written before the discovery of meiosis in humans so ryos rant about memories being passed down through genetics actually makes a lot of sense for that time period because there was no scientific evidence to tell him otherwise

it was discovered four years before devilman was written but im assuming the information wasn’t fully developed and ryo was still a high school student so it wasn’t in his curriculum. his father studied demons not genetics so im guessing ryo has basic knowledge of it but doenst

fully understand that memories can’t be inherited so his rant still makes a lot of sense and at the time wouldve been scientifically factual

i think this is the volume nagai decided that ryo was satan,,,, this is getting kinda interesting

my favorite part about this is how akira is repeatedly choosing ryo over miki, like she’s literally chasing after him and shooting her shot every five seconds but hes all like be quiet im talking to ryo rn

akira is actively fighting humans and not trying to peacefully resolve things hes not as good of a person as dmcb makes him out to be

they even wanted to avoid the fight and work things out but he fought them anyways and before you try and pin it on amon, akira still has his human heart. thats what makes him a devilman and not a demon, so hes not being controlled by amon he’s actively making these decisions

akira does not care, he didn’t even need ryos help for this one. at this point he’s hurt more people on his own accord that ryo has, and ryo hasnt even told him to kill anyone yet. all the killing so far was done by akira and akira alone
