Joo Hyun-mi. Lee Sun-hee. Kim Sisters. Lee Mi-ja. Horan. Kim So-hee. Insooni. Kim So-hyang. Pearl Sisters. IU.

Boy, Korea has given us some female singers, huh?

But for my money - and this might not be uncontroversial - the #1 of all time, the queen, the GOAT, is her.
Let me tell you why, too.
I mean, how can I put someone over Lee Mi-ja, who is nothing less than the voice of Korea?

Look, Lee Mi-ja is a titan, but I don't think there is anyone who has accomplished as much as Taeyeon has.
First, SNSD, obviously.

Shall we talk about how kpop companies saw girlgroups as a fun diversion, a stopgap between boygroup releases at best, before SoShi came along and sold gangbusters?
Look at Hanteo and Gaon today, and look at the charts from 2005.

BTS aside, girlgroups dominate everything. And not just Big 3 ones, either - look at the success of Mamamoo, Oh My Girl, WJSN etc.

SES, Chakra, & FinKL may have come before, but SNSD started this trend in earnest.
And, well, you don't need me to list everything SNSD have done. If you follow me, odds are, you know.

And then there's the solo stuff. Which, in recent kpop, is second only to IU's.
You put that together - being the leader and vocalist of THAT girlgroup, AND being one of the most successful soloists of the past five years - and really, Taeyeon's impact is undeniable.
Before someone calls me out - Uhm Jung-hwa, Baek Ji-young, Park Ji-yoon, Kim Wan-sun, and many others; I didn't forget about those legends, but if I made a comprehensive list, we'd still be here tomorrow.
And BoA, of course!
