Misophonia is a rare psychiactric disorder in which a person is deeply affected by certain sounds, or is otherwise known as: & #39;hatred of sound.& #39; It can cause panic, rage, and physical effects from both like panic attacks, or shaking simply from hearing a trigger sound.
Some common trigger sounds are:
-chewing
-tapping
-breathing
-or many repetitive sounds
Trigger sounds differ from person to person, and my personal list is probably pretty different from someone else also struggling with misophonia.

Ive had misophonia since I was about as little as 9. Ofc I didn& #39;t know that until this year when I was watching Dr.Phil and someone on the show was also suffering from misophonia. While she was explaining her symptoms, I realized that they sounded very familiar. I was so happy!
It felt incredibly relieving to see that after all that time of feeling weird, confused, and left out, all my symptoms and struggles had a name. And there was something so comforting in just knowing that. And knowing that I didn& #39;t need to be alone in this fight.
Ive always wondered if my ears were just sensitive, and just assumed that everyone else had the same problems. But I quickly realized that that wasn& #39;t true. My parents chewing drove me insane, and whenever we eat we need to have music blasting. If we& #39;re watching a movie as a
Family, I have to leave the room if someone is eating, bc otherwise I will blow up on them. Even small things like grabbing pills from little bottles, and the sound of shoes on the floor makes me go insane. And quite honestly, it really really sucks.
There& #39;s not a day where misophonia doesn& #39;t affect my life. Not a day. If you tell ppl you have it, they don& #39;t take it seriously and will purposefully make a trigger noise to "piss you off" bc suddenly it& #39;s funny. And even when ppl are supportive, you feel guilty.
Bc if one small thing they do sets you off, and you give them even just the smallest glare, you feel bad. Bc you love them, but can& #39;t control the fact that your face is heating up, your stomach is clenching, and you just want to scream and run away.
It can be really lonely too. There are only about 200,000 cases in the US a year, and although that may seem like a big number, it feels almost impossible to find someone with the same issue.
I& #39;m almost done talking but I just wanted to say literally thank you so so so much for reading this, or sharing this. I literally can& #39;t thank you enough and I hope life treats you well. And I love you

Before I end this thread (which I hope even worked bc I& #39;ve only had twitter for a little while) the last thing I want to talk about is the solution. There are no medications, and therapy is expensive. Many ppl aren& #39;t aware of it, and many won& #39;t listen. It& #39;s a lonely battle.
If you know someone with misophonia(no matter at what level they are dealing with it) plz plz plz listen to them, and respect them. By not making fun of them, guilt tripping them, or especially by not doing there trigger sound when you know it triggers them, it& #39;s a lot easier.
