#Right2SayNo (A Thread)

20+ years ago a man named Mark Caruso came around Xolobeni in the Wild Coast, Eastern Cape. He soon discovered that their land was rich in minerals and seeked person to mine those minerals
He promised the people who owned and lived off that land that he would build roads, schools, clinics etc. in return. The community refused saying that mining would disturb their way of living as they live off their land
Mark Caruso then went to the SA government (which was then under president Nelson Mandela) and told them about his findings.
The people were confident that this would work in their favour as Nelson Mandela was all about liberating the people (and was from the Eastern Cape) but the government granted the Australian mining company rights to mine even though the people refused.
The communities surrounding the Xolobeni community came together and found a group (Amadiba Crisis Committee) to fight the Australian mining company as well as their own government (the ANC) for wanting to take their land away for financial gains
The Amadiba Crisis Committee chairperson and leader was soon assassinated a few days after the mining company and ANC leaders came to the village with tactical response police which was accompanied by ambulances (this was in 2008, before the Marikana massacre)
The SA government (ANC) then proposed that a new highway (N2 Wild Coast) should be built along the coast (which the minerals were found) to make it easily accessible to the mining company. This however would run through the people's homes and their land
The Amadiba Crisis Committee has also been fighting SANRAL because they don't want this newly proposed highway but instead want their existing roads to be developed since the highway would disrupt their way of living
But SANRAL together with the SA government (the ANC) ignore the people and continue to build against the consent of the people
The Amadiba Crisis Committee have reported this matter to the SAPS and Bizana Municipality numerous times over the years but they were offered any help. They then chose to hire lawyers to fight their case in court
They have won every sitting in court and the court rules that the people who will on the land have the final say which is when the #Right2SayNo movement and law started
Current the Minister of Minerals (Gwede Mantashe) is appealing this judgement and wants to forcefully mine on the people's land
And SANRAL is running building the highway on people's land forcefully without their consent even after court rulings that the people chose to leave their land undeveloped
It is clear that the SA government (ANC) isn't fighting for the people but is fighting for white capital monopolies as well as financial gain because they stand to make millions of this deal because the mining project will lasts 20+ years
I do not know why this issue isn't trending everyday to expose the greedy, old bullies who run this country
I call upon anyone who took their time to read this thread to retweet it to expose SA government and make their faces famous as well as to help the Xolobeni community regain their land from thieves
