The Case For a 'Women's Israel'
A Female-Only Sovereign State

~

It's a no brainer that if natal Women had full equality many impossible problems that are of men's making & tearing society apart like racial violence would either not exist or not in the current destructive form.
The search for a solution to racial inequality is one of the reasons that pulled me into Dworkin's work.

You may have noticed that despite all the protests & efforts to combat racism, it's only a matter of time before the next George Floyd pitches up dead on the hamster wheel.
I believe fear is the principle mechanism by which the male pack—the patriarchy—manipulate women, individually first & then in groups, into 'an appropriate silence'.
In Intercourse (1987), Dworkin pulls a quote from an Iris Murdoch novel to discuss how men have gotten women to internalize that fear.

To get women to not see fear as "compromising or destroying freedom." To not see it as the glass cage going up around them.
Dworkin doesn't pull any punches.

"Women are supposed to treasure the little grain of fear—rub up against it—eroticize it, want it, get excited by it; and the fear could and does keep millions quiet: millions of women; being fucked and silent;..."
"...upright and silent; waiting and silent; rolled over on and silent; pursued and silent; killed, fucked, and silent. The silence is taken to be appropriate."
In Right-wing Women (1983) Dworkin had already laid out what she described as a "circle of crimes" against Women that drives the silence.
Dworkin discusses how neither wealth, a high-paid job, "a terrific heterosexual relationship", or even being allied to a "a racist social system" stops this process of fear being forced on women, everywhere, across racial and economic demographics, from applying.
Dworkin published this in 1983.

It's clear a lot of her observations still apply today.

Without concerted action to secure women's rights globally, backed up by first-world state resources, I cannot see how they can be secured.
And if a woman like Emily Wilding Davison can toss herself under a horse in 1913 and suffer her horrific death, alone, for the same problem women are addressing in 2020, it's worth at least a moment's thought as to how equality for women can be secured.

It's more than the vote.
A sovereign female-only state, like a Women's Israel, financed by G8 states, protected by an independent military, and that had an elected democratic government agenda to act as a universal support mediator protecting and advocating for the rights of Women and girls worldwide.
Such a state could be a very great benefit in this fight for female equality.

A multi-faith territory where a woman could choose to go to, if she wanted, with its own passports, borders, universities & schools, a legislature & system of government and welfare system.
This isn't segregation. Women could see such a place as either taking a sabbatical or taking a vacation, almost like walking the camino.

Such a state wouldn't segregate or have any impact on existing countries or stock markets.
But it would give natal Women a state actor in the world, advocating on their behalf. And shelter from the fear that Iris Murdoch, Dworkin, and countless others have described.

This is important because gender discrimination is wrong, and I can sense more men recognizing that.
Imagine a real state with a restorative agenda, where atrocities like harassment, rape & male oppression *can't exist* within its borders because there are simply no men who live there.
I've put this to women and received an interesting range of responses. From laughter to curiosity. But all pause for a moment.

Because it's worth thinking about.
Australia is empty. Imagine doing in the middle of the outback what the US did in the middle of the Nevada desert. The technology is possible.

And the existence of such a peaceful, democratic female-only state advocating for Women's rights in the world, threatens no one.
Taylor Swift's remarks last year about gender bias connect to the exact same set of problems that put Emily Davison under that horse only 107 years ago.

All of this is still resonating in Taylor's life. State resources are required to address this.
Everyone, both men & women, would benefit from the presence of a developed, rich female-only state with an open government that acted as a support net for women globally. It's not a weird or controversial idea. It's common sense.

I don't even consider myself a feminist.
If the idea is threatening for males it's because gender equality would take a sea change in thinking for men that most find incomprehensible.

Males can't give up their power suppressing women in bi-gender countries. The discrimination Taylor Swift raised goes unaddressed.
I expect the response from men will be to recruit women to stop a female-only state from happening.

So to the women who stand to eviscerate this:

Don't forget to tell Taylor Swift to stop singing #DarlingImScared in Miss Americana and edit that out. Because #TaylorRaisedIt.
A women's Israel. A female-only state advocating for natal Women in the world.

As John Lennon said, Imagine...
When I start seriously exploring this counterfactual idea of a Female State on Earth, you don’t need a degree in psychology to imagine how against this males would be.

Men’s opposition would be intense, pervasive, and make adversity would come from both high & mundane places.
Suppose hypothetically a rich party purchases a vast tract of land freehold—certainly some farmers in Oz own hectares larger than Singapore—for the sole purpose of starting a “country” for Women. The land buy possible. But for a State even Bezos wealth $100B wouldn’t be enough.
Male politicians would never agree to it. Men would work tirelessly to defeat the purchaser, use press propaganda, use women, use anything they can to stop the venture. It’s clear males would never agree to a peaceful transfer of power to make the world fairer for women.
I’ve walked the Somme, Flanders & Ypres graveyards. 4 men around each gravestone. But despite all that death, the patriarchy’s chokehold over Women persists.

Across racial lines males are threatened by female power; perceived “loss of identity” to elect Women to even 50% power.
Honestly acknowledging how difficult it would be for even a consortium of the world’s richest to credibly secure female equality, it makes Pankhurst & the Suffragette’s achievement to secure women the vote (in such repressive times) just stunning. https://mobile.twitter.com/tundereidkapo/status/1317580848187600896
Iris Murdoch’s “little grain of fear” cited in this thread is real. Males would explode if a Female-only country actually happened with recognized statehood. These men couldn’t stop it though. But the ones in hedge funds & owning FB & Canadian National would be a serious hurdle.
