0/ My feedback to the resort I just came back from, politely but firmly asking them to push back on masks for their poor employees.

[Your resort] and other resorts need to push back on the mask requirements for employees.

Although we enjoyed our stay, watching the employees having to wear masks all the time, outdoors, in the heat, and even when alone, is ridiculous and with no basis in science.
2/

Their masks get wet, bacteria grows. Their O2 is reduced, resulting in cardiovascular issues. Their faces acquire skin rashes & tears, enhancing risks of infections. And having a mask on even obscures their vision in the lower visual field, increasing the chances of a fall.
3/

Furthermore,

- the epidemic is over, and most cases are not leading to sickness and death (even flu bounces from person to person all year)

- transmission from asymptomatics is very rare, and so there is no reason for employees to wear one if not having symptoms
4/

- the masks do NOT stop the virus except for the rare transmission by small water droplets; viruses primarily spread as a smoke-like aerosol through the air, and the virus is so small it goes through the masks, and jets out through the gaps at the sides
5/

Enjoying ourselves as the employees are uncomfortably sweating and unable to breath well is not the experience a resort wants. The employees should not have to suffer for no reason. ...although your employees never once indicated they were suffering, you can see it.
6/

In addition to the lowered health for no medical reason, masks compromise their

- identities, making them hard to distinguish

- emotional expressions, crucial in service

- ability to simply speak and be understood, especially when outdoors with background noise
7/

I realize this is not a problem with [hotel]. [hotel] probably doesn’t have a choice.

However, these unscientific requirements are wrecking the resort industry, hurting the vacation experience, and compromising the health & joy of hundreds of thousands of employees.
8/

I encourage you and the hotel industry to push back against the ridiculous policies.
