"Strange" by Agust D ( @BTS_twt ) and RM ( @BTS_twt ): An explanatory thread-
#TheRside

P.S: strictly based on my interpretation
"Strange" is literally an extremely powerful track that openly condemns the violent system of the world risking life n death, the growing capitalism, the increasing superiority complex in the manipulative people, where the sensible ones are silenced n fools keep on screeching+
Agust D literally question on how strange this system of the world is, n contemplates over the answer: it is Strange for the system to function in this manner? Joon's answers to his question, smth very interesting to me so I'll discuss Joon's lyrics cuz I love him+
The way I see it, Joon is basically challenging n slamming down the ones who feel they have the right opinions n choices, when they are actually serving the supremacist policies rising all over the world. Joon's verse in particular is extremely strong as it throws shade directly+
Onto the wrong-doings in the world which have been normalized by the mass, his words are a complete eye-opener to say the least. Starting his flow with the q. "you think you got taste? oh babe, how do you know?" He practically exposes all the people who think they have the most+
Correct thinking, principles n morals in life and none of their opinions and choices can be wrong, when they actually fail to realize that their mind is being manipulated, it's being fed, shown what the people at the top choose to show: the world is progressing as a whole, this+
Manipulation automatically plants a seed of thoughts which do not have a broad horizon because the infos shown are never 100% accurate nor will we know if those are fake, eitherway, since the brain is being fed, it's thinking capability decreases thereby narrowing the horizon+
Of imagination of one's brain, limiting their thinking potential, corrupting the mind thereby exposing the ones over-confident of their choices, also putting up the q. "How do you know?" Cuz judging and acting are two fundamentally different things and one can hardly judge their+
Own offenses properly. This also takes to social media, where it is extremely easy to present a side of us completely different from who we are in real life, cuz hardly would anyone know us, Joon brings up social media to say "my feed explains me" has the most chances of being+
Incorrect for a person can be kind and helpful online but really nasty and disgusting in real life, one can make themselves look poor while the other can flex all their wealth, however, at the end of the day none of that would matter cuz everyone, irrespective of economic+
Backgrounds, are slaves to this violent system powered by capitalism and greed where even the rich seeks poverty: the rich hunts for more money and wealth, ironic cuz none of that matter as the end of the day, everyone is giving into capitalism anyway regardless of their status+
(name) in the society. Things become more intense when "Polarization" comes in. It's a scientific term whose literal meaning is "division" on the basis of contrasting opinions and beliefs. Joon raps, "Polarization, the flower that's already bloomed", Joon is righteously stating+
That the world is divided into various groups of people, each group having a particular belief about the ongoing issues off the world, that Diversity is at stake for the division is perhaps out of spite and not respect, as in one group is not respectful or tolerant of the+
Opinions of the other groups and vice versa, the world is divided against several wrong doings while some people might be in favour of the wrong, and it's only bringing about more violence into the world, specially when the groups in context are powerful. Joon is condemning the+
Fact that we are divided in reality when we're actually supposed live and breathe together take care of our planet. And then comes the misfits, "A round Nail thy has been hammered into a square hole": it explicitly n poetically talks about the misfits being 'trained' to fit+
Into the society. The polarization-division of people has left some outcasts who are either being made to fit or they are pushing themselves to fit, it can so represent open-mindedness being narrowed down to close-mindedness, like a circle w/o edges but a square having the same+
Where the imagination is restricted as the complete truth is never revealed so options n opinions remain narrow AND within the control of the capital, while round Nail could easily represent people with free imagination cuz they refuse to be fed n don't believe the+
Head. So it could also mean explanations of the authorities being forcefully fed into their brains, thus hammering the round nails into a square hole. It can also be about his past where he was treated as a misfit for being an idol, coming from the underground hip-hop, cuz he+
Wasn't handsome enough, but he never gave up and never stopped going and is now the leader of the most successful boyband peaking at #1 in the BBHOT100 for the second week, correlating to the spirit of the broad-minded people to never sacrifice their perspective for fitting in+
You can do wonders in your own skin, and you don't need to be a part of any "chicken coop" (people of the same kind) to be satisfied with your statements, opinions and values. Joon totally answers all of the q. Which showcases his unique perspective. To him, it's not a wonder+
That sane and sensible people are called "mutants" for their opinions being a lot different cuz they identify the wrong, what's more strange is that only a handful of people spot n protest against it, only a few have their eyes open n are not in terms w the superiors, a lot+
More stranger how sometimes amongst these sensible mutants, there are supporters of the superior in disguise, pretending to work for the right while serving the wrong, marching for peace while positioning the gun, ready to strike on command. It's a system where supremacy reigns+
Democracy is a hoax, where humans are so suppressed n silenced that the hopes almost die and dreams get discarded or become an option, as in a privilege for only a select few-round nails hammered into square holes n There is no answer cuz everyone is silenced by oppression.
In conclusion, Agust D is questioning the strange, oppressing system prevalent in the world n Joon elaborates on exactly WHY n HOW all of it is strange, it becomes stranger on thinking more, n when you look for a strong answer n don't find it, you realize: oppression, violence.
