#Thread on Tibet

In 1950, The peaceful Buddhist country TIBET was INVADED by newly established Chinese Communist.

From International legal point of view Tibet remains an INDEPENDENT country under ILLEGAL OCCUPATION of China,Fact that China wishes it could whitewash from history
TIBET remains at the CORE of the China-India divide.

China made itself India's neighbour by gobbling up Tibet.

India must refer to the Himalayan frontier by its correct historical term — the "Indo-Tibetan border."

Tibet shares border with India, Nepal, Myanmar(Burma) & Bhutan.
We are not saying all Chinese are bad, or guilty of killing 1.2 MILLION TIBETANS, just their CURRENT GOVERNMENT.

The current dilemma and future path of Chinese regime is not that of a son is continuing the legacy of his father. But following a "dead man's dead legacy".
"Tibet today is one of the most repressed and closed societies in the world." - US Senator Robert Menendez

China invaded Tibet in 1950.

After more than 60 years of ILLEGAL occupation, Tibetans still resist China's rule and defy its oppression. https://www.freetibet.org/about
In Tibet today, there is NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH, RELIGION, or PRESS and arbitrary dissidents continue.

The Dalai Lama, Tibet's political and spiritual leader, fled to India in 1959.

He now lives among over 1,00,000 other TIBETAN REFUGEES and THEIR GOVERNMENT IN EXILE.
FORCED ABORTION, STERILIZATION of TIBETAN WOMEN and the transfer of low income Chinese citizens threaten the survival of Tibet's unique culture.

In some Tibetan provinces, Chinese settlers outnumber Tibetans 7 to 1.

Most of the Tibetan plateau lies above 14,000 feet.

Tibet is the source of five of Asia's greatest rivers, which over 2 billion people depend upon.

SINCE 1959, the CHINESE government estimates that they have removed over $54 billion worth of timber..
Over 80% of their forests have been destroyed, and large amounts nuclear and toxic waste have been disposed of in Tibet...
U.S. lawmaker introduces a bill (H.R. 6948) in
Congress to declare TIBET as an
Independent country (on 19th May 2020)

The 14th and current Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso, who
lives as a refugee in India.
In 1913, the 13th Dalai Lama - Tibet's political and spiritual leader - issued a proclamation reaffirming Tibet’s independence:

"We are a small, religious, and independent nation."
Tibet - The country had its own national flag, currency, stamps, passports and army; signed international treaties, and maintained diplomatic relations with neighbouring countries.
Chinese invasion and occupation

The turning point in Tibet's history came in 1949, when the People's Liberation Army of the PRC first crossed into Tibet.
After defeating the small Tibetan army, the Chinese Government imposed the so-called "Seventeen-Point Agreement for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet" on the Tibetan Government in May 1951.
Because it was signed under duress, the agreement was VOID under international law.
The presence of 40,000 troops in Tibet, the threat of an immediate occupation of Lhasa and the prospect of the total obliteration of the Tibetan state left Tibetans little choice.
Subsequently, on his journey into exile, the 14th Dalai Lama completely
repudiated the agreement, which he has repeated on many occasions.
In 1995,6Y old Tibetan boy called Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was recognised as 11th Panchen Lama.
The 2nd most important position in Tibetan Buddhism.
Days later he disappeared.
At just 6 years old he became the world’s youngest political prisoner, held captive by the Chinese government
He is now 31 years old and has been missing for 25 years.

Since, human rights groups calling him the world’s youngest political
prisoner.

USA has made the various legislation's including the Tibet
Policy Act of 2002 & 2018 Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act
in January 2020,
US House of Repr. overwhelmingly passed Tibetan Policy & Support Act (HR 4331)
Most comprehensive policy bill on Tibet since Tibet Policy Act- 2002
The Chinese government considers as a number-one enemy, any country that recognises Taiwan as a sovereign nation.
Similarly, if any one country would demand that Tibet should be recognised as a sovereign nation, China would protest very strongly.
As a matter of fact,China holds a vice-like grip over Tibet, & does not permit any foreigners to visit Tibet to see the conditions for themselves.

The ambition of China to annex Taiwan & to firmly hold on to its occupation of Tibet is definite proof of China’s expansionist plans
There seems to be lot of similarity between the behaviour of the present Chinese government and Hitler’s Germany before World War II. The present Chinese government and Hitler’s Germany have something in common.
In their ambitious goal of dominating the rest of the world at any cost, with least concern for ethical or moral principles, or for fairness in dealing with other countries.
So far China could not annex Taiwan, since Taiwan is heavily protected by the US🇺🇸 government and China knows that any move to annex Taiwan would lead to a war with the U.S.A.
On the other hand, China was emboldened to attack Tibet and aggressively occupy the region, and violently suppress Tibetan protesters, since the interests of Tibet were not supported or protected in a meaningful way by any country in the world.
China continues to occupy Tibet and the world conscience remains suppressed as various governments want to appease China and keep it in good humour to protect their trade and business interests with China.
China now claims Arunachal Pradesh in India as part of China. It continues to occupy thousands of kilometres of Indian territory which it annexed during the 1962 Indo-China war.
China now claims ownership of islands in the South China Sea and Senkaku island, and is adopting aggressive postures in spite of protests from Japan, Phillipines, Vietnam, and other countries.
So far, China has not been effectively challenged by any country in the world for its aggressive occupation of Tibet, and claims Indian territory and islands in the South China Sea as well as its claim on Taiwan.
Because of the non-caring attitude of most countries in the world, China is emboldened to carry on with its adventures to expand its territory and areas of influence.
While the voice of Tibetans is not being heard loudly around the world, there are countries which do speak in support of Taiwan occasionally.
Taiwan has revealed to the world information about the Chinese virus sufficiently earlier, but WHO ignored Taiwan’s warning, as Taiwan is not a member of WHO. Now, calls for including Taiwan as a member of WHO are being increasingly heard.
Neither Taiwan nor Tibet is a member of the United Nations Organisation (UNO), obviously implying that UNO does not recognise these regions as sovereign countries.
Claims of China on Taiwan,Tibet &other regions indicate mindset of China &certainly represent threat for stability in the world in long run.
With free rein that China already has,its likely that China may make claims on other countries too in future.
THE WORLD HAS TO PREVENT THIS
Taiwan & Tibet are 2 test cases of China’s unjustified territorial claims with little resistance from rest of the world.

It is necessary that Taiwan & Tibet should be recognised as sovereign countries, which is a necessary step to curtail & defeat China’s expansionist ambitions.
The United Nations Organisation, in its present structure and functioning style, is not in a position to do justice for Taiwan and Tibet.
Today, there is increasing suspicion in the world about China’s methodologies and practices.
The fact that China concealed the information about the Wuhan virus and did not forewarn the world at the right time indicates that China could exhibit irresponsible behaviour.
Today, the havoc that is happening in the world due to the WUHAN COVID-19 crisis is directly attributed to China’s indifferent attitude towards the welfare of the world community.
Certainly, nobody should think or say that China should be destabilised.
But certainly, the growing thought is that China should be prevented from destabilising the world, and its aggressive methods of occupying other countries should be resisted.
The starting point to initiate such world-wide resistance to China’s territorial expansion plans is to recognise Taiwan & Tibet as independent and sovereign countries.
This will show China its place.
The recognition of Tibet as an independent nation has to start from India🇮🇳

It has the highest stake in its national security.

Tibet is the front-line for India's security.
