1. One consistent theme in FL is the lagging for Biden American Latino voters. We're dealing w small samples so all we can do is lend theory to it. If I had 50K I lend a lot more than that. But my guess is that because 85% of people are disengaged from politics, esp non-college
2. educated voters generally, Latin American populations in FL, demos being HEAVILY micro-targeted by the Death Star, are responding to radical framing that Ds are socialists & want to turn America into a socialist hellhole. K.I.M.-this is only a ridiculous frame to the informed
3. & unlike Dems, the GOP understands the electorate. They don't have over-glorified perceptions of voter acumen. If they did- do you really think they'd have held that convention they just held? It was CRAZY! It was an extreme departure from conventions past. They are targeting
4. voters w radical messaging and frankly, polling suggests a softening among both black and Latino voters that if I was running the Biden campaign, I'd be wanting to understand and address. My GUESS is it's coming from this aggressive microtargeting from the Trump campaign &
5. concentrated largely in men, and largely in non-college-educated voters. But the fact is, many D campaigns largely ignore minority voters due to their high D propensity scores, and I think the Trump campaign is microtargeting right off this list- counting on being the ONLY
6. contact that these voters get. If you're a voter whose group identity has you voting D, but you don't shit about politics, and some group shows up & starts feeding you a pack of shiny lies, and the other group is M.I.A.- let's just say, its not hard to siphon off a bit on the
7. on the margins, and on the margins is all you need to upset an apple cart. Esp if the opposition party doesn't see you coming and has all of their attention on the center of the voter file. Certainly, something that I'd be looking at analytically. That's their strategy in MN &
NM too- they're hoping that in the absence of D Party spending, they can siphon off some non-college-educated vote, esp in the Latino community. Ds made it easier for them by failing to create an action plan for this stuff-which a blind man could see coming back in Dec of 2016.
Keep in mind, IF this erosion among Latino support is true erosion, and not just polling error (and it COULD be that, we would need large ns and a good design to look at this, its not clear that's what we're seeing yet) its happening after Trump & the GOP administered a pandemic
response that not only has killed 200,000 Americans in the worst pandemic among western democracies- the death toll has hit Black and Latino communities disproportionately hard. In fact, once it became clear that the deaths were more likely to kill brown people, the GOP became
more aggressive about reopening in the midst of peaking infection numbers. And yet, there is growth in support for Trump among Latinos?? Even though this mismanagement destroyed their economic livelihoods worse than pretty much everyone's??? What is happening in the Dem universe
regarding messaging that given this MASSIVE handicap, they are losing support among this demographic?! How can this not cause a 5 alarm fire? Who are the consultants in charge of the messaging shop?! BC guys- the election that will decide our democracy is 50+ days away.
