'Fake Love' is a strikingly devastating and equally beautiful song, which brilliantly portrays the desperation and agony trapped inside the broken and betrayed hearts of many and the sickening love, inside the crumbled souls, that seeks liberty, only festering the wounds+
Attained in the past till day in context, misunderstandings and mistreatments, regret and anguish buried within: feelings and emotions Joon captured flawlessly, as is evident in this clip. Im gonna discuss lines written by him in particular cuz Im so in love w his poetic mind+
The way I see, Joon compared the idea and grandeur of love to something as vast, deep n eerie as a 'forest', implying how love is perceived as something grand n splendid n deep by some, while it can be vast, both literally n figuratively, n scary for others. The idea of love is+
Quite complex, its range is extremely broad and works for different people in different ways but the fundamental concept of love remains exactly same: for some love can be goofing around together but knowing when to be serious, for some, candle lit dinners n deep conversations+
At night, for some it can be taking time off of their busy schedules to spend some time together, with the fundamental concept of dedication, efforts, faith, understanding n support n depth of love remaining intact, making love something grand, deep n splendid. For some+
Love can very much be a torment, acting to be happy, fear of not being able to put in enough efforts, fear of not being able to give enough love, the constant anxiety of being left, n these thoughts can overcome someone who has had failed relationship(s) in the past, the trauma+
Doesn't fade easily for many people, distancing one from their lover, and loneliness dawns, making one feel like an insignificant part of this grand entity, and this where love is vast and scary. Joon is basically implying the two ways in which the 'forest of love' can be seen+
Which doesn't necessarily mean that one side is paradise n the other is hell, every love story has its ups and downs, some become familiar with the forest n everything works out for them, while some get lost in the mighty woods and things fall apart for them. Joon is+
Representative of the ones who become the victims of toxic relationships, where love isn't comfort but a game. "You weren't there" implying the love is now incomplete, there isn't a mutual feeling on one end, like a bridge missing it's other end, leading nowhere-Lost in the+
Forest by taking a route he no longer remembers: the victim doesn't understand how n why their erstwhile fell out of love n is thinking of what led to it. Joon compares the idea of being lost in the forest to being at a loss of love n oneself in life, as endings of romances+
Usually make oneself question their worth and identity as a human being, the purpose behind their existence, and all of this hit harder n more intensely if one tried to change themselves or give themselves away to their lover, as Joon raps, "I gave the world, just for you+
I changed everything for you, now I dunno me, who are you?" The question at the end is interesting to me cuz it can be taken in both ways: as question to their erstwhile and to themselves, like questioning "who was that person for whom I tried to change myself?" Or questioning+
Oneself: their worth, their flaws, why werent they enough, why they tried to change for being loved. I think this fits more cuz one tends to question their very worth after a break up, it's something very natural and happens to most, and also cuz of the lyric in the song itself+
Joon also emphasis on how dark and desperate love can get and isn't always a golden daylight by the words "Love is so bad, Love is so bad, mold a pretty lie for you": the way one tries to mold themselves into their lover's version of themselves for the sake of being loved back+
Its like creating a fake persona by molding a lie out of themselves and all for the sake of being loved back, making oneself the 'doll' of their partners, giving themselves away as an object rather than a person, to play with, emotionally n mentally and torture them. Joon makes+
A ref. To his rap on the beginning in this verse, where he talks about situations one faces, which are along the same lines, only the intensity increases. In the beginning he talks about how simple one can give everything away to change themselves but things get deeper when+
The confession of molding a lie out of themselves so as to become their lover's doll comes in, the intensity and emotions hit harder as the unhealthy dedication and submission comes to light. This clearly depicts the whole concept of 'fake love' because there is no acceptance+
For who they are n is having to change themselves into someone they aren't, just to be loved, and how is that even love since love is about acceptance. It also depicts how tragic n somewhat desperate love can make a person and how it can make them doubt their originality
.

In conclusion, Joon talks about how love is magnificently grand but a lonely, haunting vastness for some, while openly narrating the tale of damage sustained by one for trying to fit into someone's idea, just to be loved, to convey to not put one's true self at stake, ever
