They say to treat others as you'd have them treat you.
They call this the Golden Rule and consider it sacred.
But it has a problem. It doesn't take the others in mind.
It assumes everyone else likes what you like.
It assumes everyone else is okay with what you are with.
This is almost never true.
But those who follow the Golden Rule don't care.
They see the Golden Rule as justification.
They see it as vilification of others' concerns.
They weaponize it.
They bully others with it.
They make demands with it.
And when those are not met…
…they accuse the others of "entitlement".
How dare others be unique, they think.
They think "entitlement" is what they fight.
But they are clearly wrong.
Entitlement is what THEY are showing.
They are trying to take others' individuality away.
They have no right to do so.
We all as people are defined by our originality.
Everyone is different, and should be.
Because sometimes, the common mindset is wrong.
It takes a fresh perspective to remedy these errors.
This is how all science & society advancement is possible.
The Golden Rule is NOT a good rule.
It is destructive. It is deleterious.
Don't treat others the way you'd like to be treated.
Treat others the way THEY'd like to be treated.
Therein lies not entitlement, but enlightenment.
For if we all learn & care about each other…
…we will come to respect each other.
We will listen to and try to understand each other.
We will learn FROM each other.
We will only make ourselves happier and wiser.
