So I can be very gullible, trusting, and also panic massively if I'm in a situation I don't understand. I am sharing this not to overshare, which is not my really my style on twitter, but because today I got scammed out of a huge amount of money (well huge for me) 1/4
from a call pretending to be HMRC. He said I was being investigated for tax fraud and that I had to pay them money straight away or my account would be frozen and I would have to go to court. My logic goes out of the window when I'm panicking, so my "but I'm innocent" 2/4
was overrided by him telling me I had to transfer money now or else. It was only when I had no money left in my account and had to phone my Dad to request help ("what are you doing?? It's a scam!") that I came to my senses and hung up. Have spent the day on the phone to my.. 3/4
bank, police & fraud companies who've been lovely and trying not to feel like an utter fool. But the reason why I am sharing this very humiliating tale is, don't be like Rosie Holt, if anyone is pressuring you for money on the phone, it isn't legit. Hang up x 4/4
