A thread on Jews who collaborated with the nazis. These are also stories worth mentioning. We hear of the victims, the heroes, the underground, the saviors. These are some of the collaborators we don't talk about.
Warning- this isn't an easy read.

1. Jozef Andrzej Szerynski. Didn't like being a Jew and changed his last name. Was appointed head of police at Warsaw ghetto to identify Jews for deportation for death camps. Oversaw 2 deportations that caused the death of 254,000 Jews. Committed suicide.

2. Calel Perechodnik. Thought being a K*po would save him from death camps and feed his family. He developed a hatred for the Jews and himself, saying that other nations hated the Jews because they claimed to be a chosen race. When he deserted the Ghetto Police, he was executed.

3. Chaim Mordechai Rumkowski, “King Chaim the Terrible" for his speech “Give Me Your Children.” Oversaw the handover of more than 20,000 children, elderly, and sick to the Nazis for deportation to the extermination camps.
Ended up in Auschwitz, beaten to death by Jewish inmates.

4. Abraham Gancwajch was an all-out supporter of Nazis. He believed they would win World War II, so he encouraged his fellow Jews to join the Nazis as a survival tactic. Gancwajch formed Group 13, the Jewish Gestapo. An evil, ugly man who would do anything for a life of luxury.

5. Van Dijk infiltrated the Jewish resistance and deliver them to the Nazis for deportation. Responsible for the deaths of 85 Jews and the arrests of 145 including her brother and his family. At the end of the war, she was charged w/23 counts of treason and executed.

6. Stella Goldschlag helped to catch close to 3,000 Jews.The Germans named her “blonde poison.” After the war, she served 10 years in prison, converted to Christianity, and became an outspoken anti-Semite. Goldschlag committed suicide in 1994 by jumping out of a window.

7. Rolf Isaaksohn offered to work as a catcher for the Gestapo. Bragged that he could fill a whole train with Jews. After he married Stella Goldschlag, they were more effective together than the Gestapo at arresting Jews in hiding. Responsible for 2000 deaths including friends.

These people are extreme examples of collaborators. They are not a testament to every Jewish person who was under duress and their and their family's lives under threat and was forced or decided to collaborate with the Nazis. Humans can do atrocious things, including victims.
