teaching Luiselli's TELL ME HOW IT ENDS. Though she does a good job, i have many ?'s around her muted class & race differencs, as well as her politics of naming. For ex she explains what the US did in central america, yet doesn't call it "imperialism" suggests "hemispheric wars"!

Seems like Luiselli is in denial about bourgeois and passing as white. She makes "Mexican wrier" seem like an ethnic group (also what's Mexican she's more like Obama grew up allover the world), she asks "what if these refugee kids were white" and never care to address Q!!

There's that deaf note she makes at the very end of her daughter playing with white paint and saying "so they won't know we're Mexicans" or how she had to disclaim to one refugee kid "am not a gringa." This all echoes into her latest novel

Also remembered @prolpo when Luiselli cites the former border control writer. Yeah I know!!!
