Soooo. A story connected with SLC’s big wind event from today (and that continues).

I went down to the law office this morning to prepare for a 9:00 court hearing. It was an obstacle coursework getting there. Many downed trees. But I made it. Only to find the power out.
With no access to computer files to prepare for the court hearing, I turn around to go back home, where I did have power.

Driving along S. Temple A huge tree has fallen blocking three of the four traffic lanes. I park on 600 East, get out, and try to clear the branches.
The tree is an old sycamore. There are many of them lining South Temple and 600 East. I’ve been there just a few minutes and see out of the corner of my eye ANOTHER huge sycamore on 600 East fall down just 20’or 30 yards away. Pics of it:
Oh wait, there’s a car under that tree!
Oh wait, it’s MY CAR!
That’s not so good:
Nope, not good at all.
But you know what? Drivable! So I made it home in time to get on my court hearing Zoom call, tell my story, and humbly ask for a continuance (granted).
Chalk this one up for the “no good deed goes unpunished” files.

Stay safe, folks. Stay home if at all possible. It’s nasty out there.
