This ‘progressive’ attitude is wrong on so many levels, e.g.:

1. If people (not just those identifying as women) are experiencing debilitating pain during menstruation, it is not a ‘period’ it is a chronic medical condition that should be treated as such. https://twitter.com/mlungele/status/1303201550425370624
2. It leads to thoughts (like those on this thread), that all women are not able to work for 2 days a month because they’re in pain and not ‘clear-minded’, which is obviously ridiculous.
3. Isn’t the point of ‘progressive’ attitudes to not treat any group as homogenous?! Imagine if this post was a policy applied to any other group.
4. Who keeps tabs on all people in their research labs to the extent that they can’t go home if they’re not feeling well?!
My policy: I want anyone in my lab to feel comfortable asking me for time off if they need it.
