If you’re producing articles, podcasts, and videos, you gotta share them more than once on Twitter.

I know that for some of you, it will feel like too much self-promotion, so let’s unpack this a little bit.
First, your audience is busy. They have lives offline and when their eyes are on Twitter, they may miss a lot of posts. It’s just the nature of the beast.
Second, you put a lot of work into creating the content, so you should make sure you get the audience your work deserves.
With articles, check out @jonathanstea’s feed and approach. He shares his works when they are relevant to conversations.

I like this approach a lot and I’m likely to read articles that are shared when they are pertinent to an ongoing discussion. https://twitter.com/jonathanstea/status/1303116892312272896
With technical papers, I like this format for stand-alone tweets ⤵️

✅ data
✅ link to article
✅figure https://twitter.com/pewresearch/status/1303092188964966407
A few days later, Pew will tweet the same article w a different figure & caption. This approach takes a little work, but it’s much better than a simple retweet. It also provides opportunity to test out different framing.

Try the Pew strategy above
Try “I’m excited to share...”
Ok, for podcasts, if you’re trying to target someone like me (who is not really a podcast person), I need a few pieces of info to determine if it’s something I should bookmark for my walk.

The obvious:
✅Info on the guest
✅Topic
✅Photo helps
More importantly, give me a compelling quote from the episode.

You gotta imagine that a portion of your audience is like me. I’m in a bubble and if I don’t recognize the person’s name, I’m likely not going to save the episode to listen to later.
Now, if you’re a guest on a podcast, three tweets:

✅your own original tweet w link to episode
✅retweet it from the podcast’s page
✅ quote tweet it (below) https://twitter.com/sarah_mojarad/status/1202629519984623622
Best for last - (my favorite medium lately has been video 🙂)

Don’t just share a link to YouTube. Instead, include a little snippet from the video. It’ll grab people’s attention more so than text. https://twitter.com/sarah_mojarad/status/1302098387643244547
Space 👏 the 👏 tweets 👏 out

I don’t think you will, but just in case it needs to be said - don’t spam people’s feeds.

Pro tip: When you visit Twitter on desktop, you can schedule tweets. That’s a good option if you want to set it and forget it.
Folks who reach out to me over DM and ask that I share your tweets, please up your game. 😂

I want to hear why you’re excited about whatever it is you want me to retweet.

Also, please don’t take it personally when I don’t share are your stuff.
More importantly, don’t make it awkward. Don’t send me a ton of stuff with expectations that I’ll share it.

Every once in awhile is ok. I miss a lot on my feed.
