Okay, possibly a short thread /rant: I am over the phrase “return to work, return to the workplace, return to the office”, etc. We’re 6 months into this pandemic and many of us who mainly work on the computer/using cloud-based servers/VPN/etc have proven that working from home
is a viable, real and in many cases, more productive alternative to being in the office. Also, we are 20 years into the 21st century, it shouldn’t have taken a global pandemic to get us this far in the future of work.
So when companies, organizations and even major news outlets (looking at you, @dallasnews ) start using these phrases “Dallasites prepare to return to work” they completely negate everything we’ve worked towards these past few months.
Of course, there are a good number of jobs and industries that aren’t able to work from home so this isn’t what I’m dunking on. More so I’m saying that if we’ve been able to work from home in certain jobs and can keep doing so, why would we change it?
That means less people on the roads in the morning and evening, less production of vehicle exhaust, fumes and wrecks. Maybe even less trash and and junk along the highways too
and more freedom and flexibility to do projects at home, take care of families, etc.

I think this thread is done. I just wish people would learn to accept that we are in the 21st century, and the future of work is changing. There’s no way we can go back to “normal” now, whatever you think it may be for you.
