I’m home safe. But basically they pulled my coworker over & arrested him. All I heard from him was “My coworker is in the front seat. Please make sure she gets home safely.” A male cop came up, told me w/ the shittiest attitude that I needed to call someone & find a way home. https://twitter.com/chelseiwahlgren/status/1303243357620240384
I said “I have no way home, my mom can’t drive, he’s my only ride.” He goes “Not my problem, find your own way.” I said calmly, “I don’t know what you want me to do, I have no way home.” He got very aggressive saying, “Hey hey hey, you better calm down!” & reached for his belt.
I’m not even exaggerating. A female cop had to pull him away & started talking calmly to me. She said she could only take me to a nearby gas station. When we got there, it was closed. No Ubers or Lyfts were picking up. It was 3:15am.
I told her I didn’t have money for a taxi so she ended up taking me home. If she wasn’t nice I would have had to stay out in the cold for hours before my uncle could pick me up.

The situation was so scary & so many things about it makes me cry.
From my safety being my coworker’s only concern, to the fact that some people have to go through this everyday. If I was black, I would not be home safely right now. Like I’m in literal tears thinking about all of this. My heart is in so much physical pain knowing this.
To those who go through this constantly & to those who have lost loved ones through this, I am so very sorry. I’ve always known things like this happened & it always pained me knowing it. But going through it & knowing that fear & knowing it happens daily w/ people not
making it out is an even bigger pain.

Also know that cops purposely try to rile you up. He was a straight asshole, trying to make me upset so I could get aggressive. I didn’t, but he still found a way to make it sound like I was getting hostile & reach for his belt.
Keeping calm is important but it doesn’t always work. They will literally try to upset you & treat you like shit so they can grab for their gun.
