KOREAN PROGRESS THREAD

ive been learning korean for two weeks now (since august 23, 2020)

ive made huge progress since then
august 23-25, 2020 — 한글 (hangeul)

memorised the alphabet and familiarised myself with the pronunciations

had a bit of an advantage because of my perfectionistic tendencies and meticulous pronunciation skill (?)

i got the pronunciations down in one day :00
august 26-29, 2020

started with history then grammar :D tho my korean handwriting was still messy bc i had just learned strokes and blocks n stuff

i started with history although it isnt really necessary, languages are stories of civilisation :’) and i am in love with it
august 30 - september 1 — took a three day break because id been studying 5 hours a day at this point. i loved every second of it but i burned myself out HAHAHAH but so i wouldnt lose any progress, i immersed myself instead

changed my phone language setting to korean

+
watched TWICE vlives, korean content, and kdramas
september 2-4, 2020 — 받침 (pronunciation rules) and grammar

korean pronunciation wasnt too hard for me, but 받침 was a pain in the [rear end]. i thought i had to memorise all the rules but!!!! i was wrong. the rules comes naturally as u go. so i skipped that altogether
september 5-present — vocab, vocab, vocab, grammar, grammar, grammar

nothing but vocab and grammar. learning as i go :D also my korean handwriting is much much better now. 파이팅!
will update this thread as i go

also, tip if ure also learning korean:

dont rely on romanisation!!!! korean phonetics are NOTHING like english. will mess with ur head if u do. watch youtube tutorials by natives for the pronunciations :D

i recommend korean unnie and TTMIK!!
