a classic south african comedy. everything about this show worked. the acting, the writing. manaka ranaka as lerata was amazing but lele ledwaba as pinky and andrea dondolo as ayanda were some of my highlights.

this show always delivered on amazing comedic timing and if I remember correctly it played on mondays at 7? i always looked forward to a new episode. iâll never forgive mandla n for ending it and giving us that horrible spin-off.

ugh popeye and spinach, the beef between the moloi and sibiya family
. my biggest memory of the show is when my crush sting was killed by being put in one of the moloi mortuary fridges. i kind-of mourned that death

the season with matlakalaâs story of domestic abuse stands out the most to me. the actress, Thabang Nkonyeni, was tragically murdered in 2009.

now come on now!. the cast is predominantly xhosa so it was relatable to me on that level. ugh the staff at shukushuma gave us so many iconic comedic moments.

probably my favorite south african production of all time. it dealt with so many issues like sexual assault and gang violence across itâs three seasons. my personal favorite storyline was thiza coming to terms with being queer in season 3.

in season 3 we see the main cast all grown up and tackling a whole new set of challenges mantwaâs financial struggles, bobo trying to find a job and make a living, thiza coming to terms with being queer. it may just be my fave season.
