I have been a host with @Airbnb since last year and their management of the #COVID19 situation has left me dumbfounded. Throughout this tough times they have been leaching money off the hosts in case of emergency covid cancellation. @AirbnbHelp (1/n)
So, ever since covid began we had stopped accepting bookings and even if there were some bookings made through 'instant book', we cancelled them and this is the message we would shown at the time of cancellation by airbnb. (2/n)
Now, I cancel a single booking due to covid scare and rest two due to my father's heart surgery for which he had to be shifted to a isolated place and the Airbnb listing was the only safe option in the time of covid. (3/n)
So, I go ahead and cancel the up coming bookings and I get the same message as above 'This cancellation will be penalty free'. Even in my wildest dream I could not imagined that Airbnb were playing out a scam in the time of Covid19. (4/n)
I only realise about the scam when one of my payment of 11800 INR is not cleared through by @Airbnb, so I go into the future transaction page and find 19,000 INR worth of cancellation penalty 😼 (5/n)
There is no service exchanged, after each cancellation I get a message of no penalty and in the background without sending a single mail about the penalties they are leaching into my earnings. What more? (6/n)
They (a middlemen) charge the entire amount of the service from the service provider đŸ€” how does this comply with any company's policy? As they have been stating repeatedly during my attempts to get my earnings (7/n)
They even stoop to the level of asking me for my father's surgery documents and when I provide them with even that, they indecently reply that this should have been submitted earlier. (8/n)
Why the hell would I bother about submitting dad's illeness papers when my father is very critical, when it clearly states there is no penalty being charged on me and when there is a fucking pandemic on the rise?? (n/n)
