I hope journalism educators/trainers across the country are not selling their students dreams. I hope they're telling them that this industry is tough, and you may end up unemployed within the first five years of your career.

I hope they're warning them to be careful who they work for. Otherwise, they may not matter to the industry, and end up falling through the cracks. I hope they tell them its not as glorious as it seems.

Sometimes, I wonder why I did not take a different path. But, my belief system is that I needed to come this way in my life. Besides, I've had the most amazing experiences, made friends and had teachers who really cushioned my time as a baby journalist.

Would I encourage anyone I know to study journalism? The honest answer is no.

Do I believe its an important industry? Absolutely.
