Iv tried getting my lad into Liverpool fc which was my childhood team, even taking him into Stanley a few times, but this weekend was one I can’t stop thinking about and some recognition is deserved
A pre season v curzon ashton watching @ClitheroeFC might not seem all that to most people. To em I decided to take my 6year old lad to the game as he loves football, the lads I usually go with met us outside the ground and made him feel welcome straight away.
Then the lovely lady on the turnstiles made his temperature check a fun little game for a few seconds and he went through and straight away got excited as he was near with the view from behind the goals....
The nice fella in the grub tub helping him as he wanted to pay for his hotdog and my coffee himself and although a few were queuing they could all see he was just a kid wanting to play his part and do things for himself. He never rushed him and he felt involved.
We sat in the stand eating out grub all was friendly and chatty as he questioned who was who during the warm ups and he noticed a few fans in colours and wanted a scarf, the bloke again in the grub tub so friendly showing him the scarf and letting him pay himself made his day.
We went round with the lads to the cowshed and he joined in all the chants and other commenting how he took the entire game in and backed the team to a decent win. He never took the scarf off all day and has fallen in love with the team after just one game.
Now this will happen at clubs up and down the country but these are not usual times and people still went out of their way to make sure he enjoyed every second. Watching him like that made me fall in love with taking him to the game to.
Travelling form nearby town Clayton le moors last season was brilliant and I renewed my season ticket again. My little sidekick will be with me every sat home game he cannot wait.
In a time where they could be easily forgiven for tightening up belts and focusing solely on health and safety each person he met just made sure he was happy all afternoon.
For us now it’s up the blues @ClitheroeFC staff fans and players were incredible all day.
