Imagine if all Indigenous academics spoke truthfully about racism in their own fields and institutions, instead of faux gestures of solidarity at those who are experiencing the brutality of it elsewhere.
There are too few Indigenous academics in positions of power here that are using it to undermine race intellectually, politically and structurally.
But that’s because there’s a distinct relationship between Black resistance and promotions within white institutions. If you sit at the top of the ladder I get that you might not want to dismantle it but...
The least you could do is speak truthfully of the vantage point you have within your own institution and look after the Blackfullas who are being targeted. If not why are you there and who are you there for?
I have to say Prof @LesterRigney has been so very fierce in his truthtelling abt race in this place everyday and I’m very grateful for his work intellectually and politically ✊🏽
