First of all, read the circumstances in which JC had to grow up:
Jfm wasn't directly abusive, yet he was nevertheless abusive in his own way. He neglected his kids n he had blatant favouritism towards wwx EVEN when wwx wasn't an actual son of the family+

N if you compare that w the fact that JC always tried so hard to please his father n get his attention n approval, n see that very attention given so easily to a stranger when he himself could count on one hand the amount of times his dad had carried him, can you blame jc+

For being insecure? DESPITE the jealousy he still accepts wwx n becomes friends with him doesn't he?

Also jfm is not the only one here. As much as I love yzy she was ALSO a contributor to JC's insecurities. Constant comparisons, constant pushing, constant making jc +

Feel that he isn't good enough, making jc feel HE had to be the best no matter what. Have you ever thought that perhaps jc DIDN'T want to be the best? Maybe he just wanted to cultivate to HIS best, not to compete w anyone. We would never fully know coz the story+

Is from wwx's pov and we aren't seeing JC's feelings here. We are ONLY seeing what wwx PERCEIVES jc to be feeling so I will also blame this on unreliable narrative.

Jc only wanted his fam to acknowledge him. Yet it was the only thing he never got. It's easy to say+

"he shouldn't have been so jealous" when you have no idea of the hurt n inadequacy feelings he prolly went thru. But ofc what do I expect from ppl who never bothered to study other charas apart from w/angxian anyway.

And JC's "jealousy" wasn't want broke apart shuangjie plz+

Yes I will not deny that jc had insecurities against wwx but it wasn't so deep-rooted that it would completely break apart their bond.

What broke apart their bond was their difference in ideals. Wwx, guy with the hero complex, doing what his heart called him to do+

And making several decisions which, while are morally correct, but nevertheless impacts the sect in the wrong way. The Wen destruction of LP might've been inevitable but wwx's actions in the Xuanwu cave DID accelerate it just as JC had pointed it out coz JC, unlike wwx+

Sees things from a POLITICAL n realistic pov, coz of the fact that he is gonna succeed his dad as a leader. Can u blame him for considering the safety of his sect first? REALISTICALLY looking, if it was me I'd choose my family first too+

That was perhaps one of the first instances where their bond split.

Secondly, the fact that wwx after taking up dc had taken on a careless n arrogant attitude ALSO rubbed off on jc wrongly coz one again, jc is seeing things from the perspective of "what's good for the sect"+

He is a sect leader. He HAS to see things in a broad view. He can't do the same biasness his dad did towards wwx just coz they are close. LP was only newly re-established n still shaky on his foundations so ofc jc was twice as cautious n berated wwx for improper conduct+

Coz back in those days, a cultivator sauntering around w/o a sword WAS seen as rude (we are talking about ancient days here. Conduct was a HUGE deal). And no, don't bring in the core thing here n that wwx had no choice. JC. DIDN'T. KNOW. We are trying to see things from JC's +

Pov here coz you guys already know wwx's pov. JC didn't know that a non-consensual surgery was done on him n wwx was left w/o a core. Jc didn't know wwx wouldn't be able to wield suibian w/o his core. JC was left in the DARK the whole time. He still believed wwx +

Finally, wwx leaving LP for the Wens. Once again, a morally correct decision. But politically? It's nearly suicide. +

I will stress on the fact that LP was still weak here n if they were to help the Wens it would leave them in a precarious position n possibly result in the other 3 sects completely making an enemy out of ymj. Reasons? There are many. It would mean one less sect to compete w+

N for greedier sects like jin or yao, they would also gain all the territories that ymj had jurisdiction over.
Remember that MDZS is ALSO quite political n hence you HAVE to see from that perspective too. The Wens were seen as war criminals n aiding them would mean+

Putting the blackest stain on your name possible. N remember that whn wwx came to jinlintai to "request" for the Wens, jc wasn't present that time. N hence when jc does come back he has to hear abt it all from the biggest snake, jgs no less+

Even so jc still tries to stand up for the wen sibs, despite not having the same bond wwx had w them (n NO, don't bring the core sacrifice here again coz JC. DIDN'T. KNOW) but jgs wheedles and prods on his insecurities, hitting where it hurt, spinning lies+

With the rest of the sect AGREEING to the lies (apart from GSL coz lwj but even then lwj walks out after saying his bit & mianmian, bless her soul)
But regardless, jc isn't stupid to be blinded by his insecurities btw coz when he visits wwx in the burial mounds +

The thing he TALKS abt is how jgs is AFTER wwx's power n how if wwx keeps sticking to the Wens the rest of the world would make a villain out of him. N then he goes on to say that he wouldn't be able to PROTECT wwx if he doesn't come back, so see? it's NOT JC's insecurities +

Breaking their bond but wwx's decisions, regardless of whether right or wrong (not debating on that rn)
EVEN after that JC still brings his sister during her wedding day just so wwx could see her n they eat soup AND JC let's wwx choose jl's courtesy name+

IS THAT HOW A MYOPIC SELFISH BASTARD YOU ALL MAKE JC OUT TO BE SUPPOSED TO ACT? COZ I DON'T THINK SO!

OH! And lemme also add that even wwx knows how badly his decision to help the Wens might affect ymj n that's why he decides to defect. Like I said, politics play a huge lot+

What FINALLY breaks them both apart is jyl's death. And Nightless City was a whole chaos at that time. Wwx's loss of control results the corpse to hurt jyl n then she ultimately d*es protecting wwx. N if you use CQL here n say that there was a 3rd party manipulating it all+

NEITHER wwx or jc knew at that time so they very naturally don't blame anyone else but wwx himself. That's basically the final straw that breaks the camel's back.

So there, THAT'S how and why jc and wwx's bond broke. JC's "insecurities" aren't the sole reason here

This was my comment btw. And I think I'm allowed to say the person who replied to me completely missed out the point of my rant AND proved that ppl INFACT DO look at MDZS only from the love story perspective when it's so much more as well as that Jc is misunderstood huffs
