While I was in Austin, my father bought a gun. (There& #39;s more!)

We had to run errands and he said he& #39;s doing the first errand without me. He didn& #39;t want to say what it was. I offered to sit in the car.

He said "nah, it& #39;s a gun shop."

I hate hate hate hate hate guns. Also, they have a gun or three in a safe already.

My dad knows I hate them and wish they were in LESS households.

I then asked him to buy it the next day. He said it had to be today. I got nervous.
Why today, Dad?

"There& #39;s a group of us across the city and state all buying them today." He says.

He& #39;s a financial guy, so I legit thought gun stock was about to go up.

But no. The group was black men.
For decades, we have said the best way to enact gun control is to have a ton of black dudes buy guns.

They did.

My dad said everyone in the gun store was a black dude (this is a WHITE gun store, confederate flag on the window outside).

But it didn& #39;t make the news.
So maybe, the solution isn& #39;t as easy as we thought. Maybe the organizing wasn& #39;t successful.

Also, guns are so expensive. So it was more established black men (not a ton of 19 year olds) who may appear less of a threat https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷🏽‍♀️" title="Achselzuckende Frau (mittlerer Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckende Frau (mittlerer Hautton)">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷🏽‍♀️" title="Achselzuckende Frau (mittlerer Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckende Frau (mittlerer Hautton)">

But it didn& #39;t work.
Maybe nothing will work.
