SBS has been trying to recruit KGE for years but she was snapped up by MBC, and has been refusing their offers thus far.

LMH’s sister - Lee Sung-Kyung, a creative director at SBS, begs her brother to come back home for good after their father, Lee Do Kyung, suffers a mild heart attack. He is hesitant.
She tells him they are working on a news show - his co-anchor will be Kim Go Eun, if she agrees.
Kim Go Eun has always been a fan of Lee Min Ho as a journalist, when Lee Sung Kyung pitches the show to her, she agrees to learn more because of him.

Lee Min Ho returns home much to everyone’s dismay - except Lee Sung Kyung’s.
He spends his first meeting with the managing directors and Kim Go Eun in relative silence as they discuss contracts and the show.

KGE keeps wondering why SBS is after her, they have been offering her a lot over the years and the newest deal is outrageous and working with LMH is scary. She wonders “why me”. Her brother, Kim Woo Bin, is just as suspicious. But their mother, Kim Hye-Ok tells her to take it.
She accepts the offer hesitantly. Lee Sung-Kyung is ecstatic. LMH seems aloof. They get thrown together in a bunch of meetings to figure out the show flow. KGE and LMH seem to disagree on many things - from the format, to what they’ll cover and how they’ll cover it.
KGE overhears that LMH only came back because he gets to work with her. She is really confused because it makes no sense and he scoffs when she tries to bring it up with him. She writes it off as a silly rumour.
They do screen tests, work together on some stories - their styles are wildly different. He is someone who likes to jump in head first without thinking. She is meticulous with her research - he teases her about being Type A.
Their working relationship progresses, they find a rhythm. Their show is an instant success because of the way they seem to almost argue on air, presenting two sides of a situation. He irks her because he always plays devil’s advocate and puts her on the spot while on air.
A month and a half in, she receives an anonymous tip about a certain company engaging in shady practices - and how it’s linked to a recent factory explosion. She hesitates. The company is one of the biggest SBS sponsors. He picks up on her jitteriness.
She’s sure he’ll be against doing this story because SBS belongs to his family. He surprises her when he says they should investigate it. They get shut down by the director immediately. She is dejected because it NEEDS to be covered and regrets switching to SBS.
He suggests they do it anyways, on their time. They start spending their time out of the office together investigating with the help of her brother, Kim Woo Bin, a detective who seems to be suspicious of Lee Min Ho. The two are rather snarky with each other.
LMH & KGE realize that the problem is bigger than they thought as they dig in deeper. They end up in multiple life threatening situations as they investigate the company. While KGE is investigating, she’s also noticing that LMH seems to know a lot about the stories she’s covered.
He’ll mention them in the passing when talking about something like he’s seen and read her things multiple times. It confuses her b/c he’s an international reporter. She asks again why SBS had been after her for so long, he says nothing but she knows there is a reason for it.
Lee Sung-Kyung and KGE have become good friends over the course of her time at SBS. While they’re getting drinks one night she drunkenly says that “the amount of time my brother stays in South Korea is directly dependent on you”. KGE doesn’t understand it but is too drunk to ask.
Kim Woo Bin picks the two drunk girls up, Lee Sung-Kyung is smitten right away and makes a fool of herself which amuses KGE. LSK insists that KGE spend the night at her place because it’s a girl’s night. KWB has to go on a stakeout, their mom is away, so he leaves KGE with LSK.
LSK forgot to mention that LMH lives with her in their penthouse. They drunkenly make fun of him, LSK lets something else slip and LMH has to drag her away before showing KGE to the guest room.
She asks him again, when he says “it’s all in your head”, she responds with “I don’t believe you” before collapsing. He puts her to bed and we finally get a peek inside his head as he stands on the balcony overlooking the city.
He’s been following her work, his sunbae raved about her since she started journalism school with him as her supervisor. He’s seen it all and he’s mesmerized with her. His sister knows, it’s why she’s been hounding KGE all this time. Because it would bring him home.
He wanted to come back and work with her to get her out of his head. She’s been haunting him for years. He just wanted to find something that would prove to him that she wasn’t all he had built her up to be.
He concedes it was a horrible idea because she’s even better than he imagined her to be. And he’s not sure if he can stay away from her any longer. She’s going to be the thing that ties him down, he should hate her for it but he doesn’t.
