“People in the hood dont wanna think about this” did you ever consider that maybe they just dont want to with YOU? Lol. Maybe it’s your vibe. You be surprised what ppl wanna learn in the hood when we feel like the person is coming to us with good energy and actual investment
We were doing distro and a woman saw a flyer we had that was talking about reclaiming properties and about maroonage, and she said “stolen land? What do you mean by that?” I was like “well Native people are struggling still because Europeans have occupied and taken land.”
Yall be scared to struggle w ppl bc the person might end the relationship with you maybe it’s not because the information is something they “cant understand” but because your attitude is trash and hierarchical.
My comrade and I was doing street shit and this dude who watch stuff wit us kept grilling us about our anti-cop stance. He is ironically pro-cop but anti-snitching to cops lol (contradictions!). ANyway, so we debated him. Guess what? Shit still cool btwn us like.
Radicals need to stop projecting onto folk in the hood and self-analyzing what you doing wrong that makes political education impossible in your work. If hood ppl didnt like learning, hotep YT scholars and niggas passing out Isis Papers on the street wouldn’t be so popular
Pastors wouldn’t be so comfortable reading fucking Elizabethan english from the KJV with folks at their church, “knowledge is power” and “stay in school” would not be a favorite axiom from the old heads; and prisoners’ Movement wouldn’t emphasise reading as often as they do.
My little brother wouldn’t be watching videos to learn about conservatism vs liberalism; my other cousins wouldn’t be tryna teach themselves animation using the internet; I wouldn’t have started googling “cherokee language lessons” when I was a kid
