Happening now -- PG&E is holding a public briefing on power shutoffs. Watch here:
PG&E spokesperson: Tonight, we are expecting to initiate a power shutoff
PG&E Senior Meteorologist Scott Strenfel says the timing of potential power shutoffs will be Monday night-Wednesday morning due to a Red Flag warning, high fuels, and Diablo winds (and Santa Anas in Kern Co.)
PG&E Incident Commander Mark Quinlan:
172,000 customers could be affected by power shutoffs.
They need to occur just prior to midnight for the majority of areas. (Map coming)
"We don't take that decision lightly."
Sorry for the terribly grainy map of areas affected. (It's a photo off my computer)
Areas 1 & 2 could experience shutoffs starting at 9pm-Midnight. They could start slightly later in Area 3 (Kern Co).
They expect to restore power to all by end-of-day Wednesday.
